What's on and where
Golant 2012
Dates 31st July until 5th August
Penquite House, Golant, Fowey, Cornwall, PL23 1LA
Set in three acres of grounds with a further 14 acres of woodland to explore, YHA Golant is ideally suited to children and young people. Overlooking the Fowey Estuary, it’s just four miles from the sea and an excellent base for discovering the Cornish coastline.
Our teams of emerging music leaders, professional tutors and designated house parents all agree that the many facilities of Penquite House make an ideal base for the residential.
This is the third year we have had a residential here.
In the evenings, as well as the many supervised activities that will be going on, participants can relax in the games room or sit above the estuary and simply admire the views.
All food will be catered for us by the owner who is an organic chef and uses most of his ingredients from his back garden.
What will you do each day?
Each day you will be participating in rehearsals and workshops given by visiting professional guest leaders. We are delighted to welcome back composer and musical “animatuer” Ian Crew as our guest co-director and chamber music coach for the course this summer
NEW FOR 2012
For the first time this year, we welcome applications from a small number of woodwind and brass instrumentalists in order that we can tackle a more diverse range of chamber music, such as Stravinsky, " A Soldiers Tale" and excepts from "Tubby the Tuba" which will be part of our children's concerts repertoire for our 2012-2013 season. We are also running daily workshops in jazz and folk music for our participants.
Following on from the success of last year, we will be offering a trip to Polkerris beach for a day of watersports activities, fun and beach games.
Final details will be available soon, in the meantime for more information please contact
